Governance
Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology is administered by the Major
Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram through the Malankara Catholic Educational
Society, a society found by the diocese exclusively for the formation of
educational technical and other institutions to benefit the community and the
public in general. The society was registered in the year 1996, under the
Travancore – Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration
Act XII of 1955. The major Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram under which the
society functions, has been in the field of education for long and has
established several primary, secondary & higher secondary schools, nursing
college, technical college, NAAC ‘A’ grade training college and a few first
grade colleges in its credit. Many of them are most sought after in their creed.
One of them, The Mar Ivanios College claims prestigious CPE (College with
Potential for Excellence among very few colleges in India) status by the UGC.
Admissions
Candidates for admission to the B.Tech degree courses are required to have
passed the higher secondary examination of Kerala with Mathematics, physics and
Chemistry as subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto by
the University of Kerala,India. Regular candidates shall have secured a maximum
35% marks in mathematics and 15 % marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry
put together. The candidates shall also satisfy the conditions regarding
physical fitness as may be prescribed by the University.
Library facility
The Back bone of MBCET is the library, which provides all possible facilities to
its members. A good collection of 15,000 Engg: books for six engineering
branches, assists its members to complete the academic program in an excellent
and efficient manner. A separate periodical section has 190 national and
international Journal's. Round back volumes of journals, question papers etc are
available for reference
